Peter Torsson

Peter is a native Swede who started skating at the age of 24 months and never looked back. At the age of 32 he has accumulated 22 year of playing experience including 3 years as a full-time professional in Sweden, 4 years of college division one hockey and now has 8 years of coaching to add. His versatile background contributes to a very broad understanding of various hockey philosophies. Utilizing his background as a player under nationally recognized coaches, Peter's own coaching strengths are skill and strategy development by coordinating structured drills with emphasis on individual creativity. He will instill each player with a clear and concise understanding of the team philosophy and subsequently teach them to implement his/her own talent and creativity WITHIN the parameters of that philosophy. Peter is an excellent communicator with players, parents and his peers. He frequently takes his spare-time to educate his players off the ice both theoretically and instructionally.

As a player, he left home at the age of 15 to pursue a full time boarding school hockey program in Vasteras, Sweden. At the age of 17 and 18, he was selected to represent Sweden on the Junior National Team and was subsequently contracted by Vasteras for three years to play full time professional hockey in the Swedish Elite League. In 1997 Peter left Sweden to pursue a division one hockey/academic career at St. Cloud State University. At St. Cloud, Peter earned 6 major awards in addition to being recognized as an All American Scholar for excellence in academics and hockey two years consecutively.

Peter has been coached for five years by Par Marts (Olympic Gold Medal Winner as a Coach at Lillehammer 1994) and four years Craig Dahl (St. Cloud State University) who founded the program with Herb Brooks. Peter's career came to a premature end due to a knee injury at St. Cloud. As a player, Peter grew up playing with and against players like Niklas Lidstrom, Peter Forsberg, Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley, Kim Johnson, Niklas Sundstrom, Mattias Ohlund, Kristian Huselius, Nils Ekman, Tommy Salo, P.J. Axelson, Samuel Pahlson, Tyler Arnason, Mark Parrish, Duvie Westcott and the list goes on. Peter has been a professional youth hockey coach since they year 2000 of which four years have been with the West Valley Wolves organization in California and previously the Tigers. Peter made a tremendous impact within the Wolves organization managing to raise $30,000 to the program and is widely known in the hockey community for his hard work, passion for the sport and quality of instructions. Helping the kids excel their game and open doors to career advancement is key to Peter's involvement in hockey as a coach.

Outside of hockey, Peter works as a derivative finance manager in Los Angeles and he graduated Summa Cum Laude with an emphasis in finance from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota in 2001. In 2006, Peter became a Chartered Financial Analyst by passing the third test hosted by the CFA Institute. At St. Cloud, Peter achieved several academic awards including but not limited to Deans List 5 times, All American Scholar all eligible years, Phi Kappa Phi High Scholastic Achievement Award, NCAA Student of The Day Award, Brendan J. McDonald Presidents Award, WCHA All Academic Team all eligible years, Inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma represented by the top business students across the USA and shares the membership with prestigious business executive's/owner's and President's of the United States of America.
