Meet our new Director of Hockey...

Hello Heat Families,

We are excited to announce the California Heat Executive Board has completed the search for our next Director of Hockey. After reviewing numerous applications and conducting several interviews with potential candidates, the Executive Board is very pleased to announce Kelly Stirzel as our new Director of Hockey.

Kelly has a long history as both a West Valley Wolves and California Heat alumni. He comes to the club with 10 years of coaching experience in the Los Angeles hockey community, eight of those years were right here with the Heat and the In-House program at the LAK Valley Ice Center. He has coached players from the mite level all the way up to midget (A/B - AA).  While mentoring numerous players, he has helped them reach their goals of playing at various junior teams, prep schools, USA national development programs, as well as Division 1 & 3 colleges.

We are excited to see the improvements in skill development, team success, and coaching excellence that Kelly will bring, and we are very happy that he is joining our team.

“I am extremely excited to take on the position of Director of Hockey at the California Heat Hockey Club and am grateful to the Board for giving me the opportunity. I appreciate and understand the history of the Heat having spent 12 years with the organization first as a player and then as a coach. It is with great gratitude and passion that I return to the Heat.

I embrace the opportunity to work with the Board to create a high quality program and to build a vibrant organization. I look forward to meeting all of the Heat families, players and parents alike, and to be part of each player's hockey development and journey. Together, I believe, that we can build something special at LAK Valley Ice Center”.

The Executive Board is excited to work with Kelly in achieving our common goal of providing quality programming for the hockey players in our direct and surrounding communities.  Kelly’s enthusiasm, vision and character are sure to be an asset to the Heat for years to come.

Please help us in welcoming Kelly to the club!
